To Invent
'The way we see things is affected by what we know or what we believe.'- John Berger

An image is a sight which has been recreated or reproduced. It is an appearance which has been detached from place and time in which it first made its appearance and preserved. Every image embodies a way of seeing. Every time we look at a photograph, we are aware of the photographer selecting the particular sight from infinite possibilities of other sights. Although every image embodies a way of seeing, our perception or appreciation of an image depends also upon our own way of seeing. Inspired by how an image is recreated and reproduced by people’s sight, how it is affected and reconstituted by what people know and believe, I use folding, ripping, creasing, cutting, tearing, layering and concertinaing through the media of paper to hide, deconstruct and construct the image.
